NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 11th July, 2001

S.O. 665(E). In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 61 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 (53 of 1972), the Central Government, being of the opinion that it is expedient so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in Schedule I and Schedule III of the said Act with effect from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, namely:-

1. In Schedule I to the said Act,-

(a) in Part II A relating to “Fishes”, after entry 1, the following entries shall be inserted, namely:-

“2. Shark and Ray (All Elasmobranchii).

3. Sea Horse (All Sygnathidians).

4. Giant Grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus).”

(b) after Pat IV, relating to Crustacea & Insects, the following Parts shall be inserted, namely:-

2. In Schedule III to the said Act, after entry 19 relating to Wild pig, the following entry shall be inserted, namely:-

Note: The entries in various Schedules of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 have been amended from time to time. The last notification in this regard was issued vide S.O.747(E) dated the 29th May, 2001.

पुलिस और एनजीओ ने दुलर्भ शंख बरामद किये


हरिद्वार। हरिद्वार जिले के शांति कुंज क्षेत्र में पुलिस और सांसद मेनका गांधी के नेतृत्व वाले गैर सरकारी संगठन पीपुल फार एनिमल ने एक संयुक्त अभियान के तहत छापा मार कर एक व्यापारी के पास से कुछ दुलर्भ शंख बरामद किये ।
पुलिस सूत्रों ने आज यहां बताया कि पुलिस ने इस सिलसिले में गणेश नाम के व्यापारी को गिरफ्तार कर लिया । हरिद्वार के व्यापारी गणेश के पास से शंख लेकर एक एक शंख को पांच पांच सौ रूपये में बेच रहे थे । सूत्रों के अनुसार, उन शंखों को भी बेचा जा रहा था जो वन जीव अधिनियम 1972 की अनुसूची में संरक्षित हैं
